I've found a new love for arpeggios, but with them comes the sound of the 80's big leads, can't seem to find another use for them.... :) So what are you guys doing to further your playing technique?
Trying to learn a few things from different styles, a few country licks, some jazz licks, etc. Lately I've been working on learning "Ebon Coast" by Andy McKee and it is hard as hell to play all the way through without missing any notes.
I'm working on finding time for music recently, between a full time job in banking, and running my photography business on the side (which, by the way is, recently blossoming, and thus requireing alot of work )
Bmag, it's interesting to hear you are trying Andy McKee's stuff, he's got like 3 different rhythms going on at the same time, don't know if I would even want to try it. How are you learning it, is there sheet music or has it been tabbed?
JB, good luck with the photography, anything will beat a 9 to 5 job, hope it becomes super successful, cheers!
Well so far I've only got Ebon Coast down and I learned it from watching some guy who did an Ebon Coast tutorial video on youtube. Took hours of rewinding and pausing but I've got it down, just can't play it all the way through without mistakes yet. There are tabs for his stuff though, he's got an online store of sheet music and there are a few people who have attempted to tab his stuff out on other sites. But yeah I know what you're sayin, his stuff is just so complex, he's pretty much a one man band - he makes his guitar sound like two guitars and a drum on top of that. Once you get it down though it doesn't seem that hard any more. His stuff just blows me away man, it's the probably the only other music I've really been compelled to sit down and learn other than the first time I heard Clapton's stuff.
Kinda funny , How I learned to play lead back in 1960 something or another lol, just the blues scale really, but I would just follow the patterns of chords, had no idea they were arpps though, and a lot of people back then, well lets just say they weren't into it that much he he
