Music is a huge part of my life. I'm usually listening to music or playing guitar and even when I'm not doing either of those I'll be playing a song in my head. I actually started out playing piano (who hasn't?) when I was 6 but I got bored with Classical music after awhile. My freshman year in high school I discovered Jazz and just had to learn how to play, only my piano teacher couldn't teach me that style. Bored and frustrated with piano I turned to guitar when I was 17. At first I was just messing around with Dave Matthews Band stuff and for awhile I was an avid Incubus and Smashing Pumpkins fan. I didn't actually discover the blues until I was in college, when my roommate played Cream's "Sunshine of Your Love" which totally blew my mind. I started learning to play everything Clapton, and through him I discovered guys like BB King, Robert Johnson, Albert King, Muddy Waters, etc. I am still a huge Clapton fan, although I think he's going soft in his old age. These days I'm into blues, jazz, rock and everything in between. I love all kinds of music really, but in almost all of them I can hear a bit of the blues. You hear so many bands out there these days that play power chord songs with some throaty voiced lead singer pouring his heart out over some girl he lost or something equally heart wrenching. Well, back in the day that was called the blues. The blues is universal - everybody gets the blues. And the blues, as a genre of music, isn't always about being sad. You win the lottery, you gonna play the happy blues. You lost your woman, you gonna play the sad blues. The blues is the truth - playing whatever is on your mind and talking about it through your voice or your instrument. And, like the great Hubert Sumlin said, the blues ain't dead and it ain't about to die. The blues was here before we was here and it's gonna be here after we're gone.

Favorite Music:

Blues! But lately I've been into a lot of jazz and rock as well. I love any kind of music that mixes these styles. Some of my influences as a guitarist are John Mayer, Eric Clapton, Kenny Burrell, Wes Montgomery, James Taylor, Carlos Santana, Joe Bonamassa, Andy McKee, BB King, Grant Green, Soulive.

Favorite TV Shows:

The Office, The Simpsons, Heroes, Chuck, 30 Rock, Fringe
