Oh,can't you hear the wind howl...""All these evil-hearted women, man they will not leave me be...""You better come on...in my kitchen...well it's going to be raining outdoors..."I reckon it all started in 1987 when my father passed away from a brain tumor. He was a Health/Phys/Ed professor here in SC at Furman University.I had good parents and a Christian upbringing, but when he passed, well y'all know how rebellious we can be at that age.Now that I look back at it,I first started on guitar at age 7(it took my parents a while to figure out what to put me on...I knew I couldn't play the piano we had in the house walking around w/my hands up in the air,y'all know).I began playing the harmonica at the age of 3.While I was growing up at around 15,everyone else was listening to Journey(not that Neal Schon isn't an AMAZING guitarist)my friends and I discovered Ozzy Ozbourne's "Blizzard of Ozz"and we were like "Yup,that Randy Rhoads is a demi-god phenomenon!"Then it was Joe Satriani,Steve Vai,Eric Clapton and the Cream, the Yardbirds,Velvet Underground,The Doors,Bob Dylan,Sonny Boy Williamson,Muddy Waters,Howlin'Wolf,Robert Johnson(although I didn't get into him until I was through w/ college),Jimi Hendrix(of course),Black Sabbath,Deep Purple, the Firm,Motorhead,Bad Company, the Allman Brothers,Lynyrd Skynyrd,Hank Williams,Sr.,Jeff Beck,Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble,.Jimmy Page,Led Zeppelin,D'Jang Reihnhardt(sp?)Al Di Meola,Chet Atkins,Andre Sergovia,Pink Floyd,David Gilmour,CCR,AC/DC,oh yeah,CROSS,JBlaylock,Chuckinator5,Skillet,BluesSlider,just to name a few dern good bluesmen on this site.I like to grill out a LOT.A good dinner and a song,y'know,to set the mood.I taught myself rythm guitar and bottle-neck slide. Also several alternate open tunings. This last year I've bought a Peavy 5-string Millenium bass guitar w/active electronic p'ups in it.I have taught myself, while sitting in w/some bluegrass musicians who are PHENOMINAL!I feel VERY fortunate and blessed to be able to participate in this KOTB!God bless ALL these players.
